Una loca aventura medieval
Una loca aventura medieval Rating: 44 out of 100 based on 21 reviews.

Once upon a time there was a terrific, charming, funny film about the Middle Ages with contemporary dialogue. But this review is not about that film, which starred Bing Crosby. This film about the Middle Ages is neither terrific nor particularly funny...

The great stoner-comedy team of Richard “Cheech” Marin and Tommy Chong made six movies together. Seven if you count their showing up in the Graham Chapman comedy “Yellowbeard.”

Your Highness, David Gordon Green's gratuitous, inventive, and thoroughly outlandish take on Tolkien lore, will undoubtedly be labeled as a parody of fantasy films such as The Princess Bride and Ron Howard's Willow.

Your Highness is McBride's latest full frontal (nudity) assault on good taste and cinema, a bawdy spoof of sword-and-sorcery flicks with jokes springing from under his codpiece.

In "Your Highness," an exhaustingly pushy, phallocentric and witlessly smutty spoof of early '80s medieval fantasies such as "Krull" and "The Beastmaster," McBride plays the weed-smoking younger brother of a heroic Galahad figure portrayed...

The only good thing about it is the action sequences. If I could edit out Danny McBride & his adolescent sense of humor there might be a watch-able hour. Maybe.

James Franco and Natalie Portman let down their Oscar-coifed hairdos to get their Camelot on! Alongside the scene-stealing Danny McBride, they venture forth on a hilarious adventure that's as dirty as the dung our heroes trudge on.

Bring much of the talent behind Pineapple Express back together, big things were expected of Your Highness, though crucially it isn’t Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg’s work on the script.

Not nearly as terrible as I thought it would be, Your Highness is still a relative dud when it comes to comedy. I laughed at some moments and even laughed a little louder at an absurd drawing about midway through...

f scatological humor, endless dick jokes and profanity are all required for a comedy to work these days then Your Highness could be a smash hit.

A medieval genre goof of impressive physical scale and disproportionately modest comic ambitions, as an entertainment animal, Your Highness is disappointing where it counts.

The makers of "Your Highness" would have done well to keep that in mind. The idea of Danny McBride, James Franco, Zooey Deschanel and Natalie Portman getting together for a raunchy send-up of medieval quest movies sounds great on paper.

That's also where we can most appreciate his admirable rejection of limitations. Having just earned an Oscar nod for his intense work in "127 Hours," he tackles the juvenile lunacy of "Your Highness" with equal commitment.

This vulgar medieval travesty is awfully good fun when it works.

The comic mojo of Danny McBride can be a thing of fucked-up beauty. See him in The Foot Fist Way or HBO's Eastbound & Down. Or watch him achieve stoner nirvana with director David Gordon Green in Pineapple Express.

Let's talk about characters in film, the stereotypical cookie cut-outs which all make a film familiar and some to relate to. And then comes the antagonist, the evil doer that foils all good in the world. Then comes the people in between.

At the Chateau Marmont bar a couple of years ago, I couldn’t help eavesdropping on two development guys. It was late, they were loud and I don’t know what they were smoking, but the air sure smelled skunky. Surely, they jested?

For a Medieval comedy that’s sat in the studio dungeon since last year, all of a sudden Your Highness is hotter than a shovel-full of coals in your britches.

If you’ve not seen that red-band trailer for Your Highness, then, yes, this is a fantasy movie from the guys who brought you Pineapple Express and TV’s Eastbound And Down. Please take a moment and imagine all that that entails.

WITH two weeks to go to the real Royal Wedding, here’s a film that Prince William and Kate Middleton won’t be sneaking out to watch in the middle of the night before.
